i wonder because my daughter has brown/brown, and my son is blue/blonde. ironic because my brother and i were the same. its weird to look at my kids because they resemble my brother and i a lot.... so how is this possible? what makes it happen?

You're right, it is genetic, but more complex than most people think. Brown is a dominant charactaristic, but there are many genetic sequences responsible for it, hence the many shades of skin, eye and hair colour. Blue eyes and blonde hair are recessive, but if you inherit enough of the genetic sequences, you will have noticably blue eyes and blonde hair. What you might find interesting is to find a family with all blonde hair and blue eyes, and do a direct comparison. Your eyes might then look less blue and your hair less blonde, highlighting the small amount of brown genetic material.
Just as an aside, my cousin has brown hair and brown eyes, her husband has blue eyes and brown hair, they had five children with blue eyes and light brown/blonde hair - go figure the odds.

Hope this helps.

because your family genetics may have been more dominent, if you have brown eye and your husband has brown eyes theres prob ( i cant remeber exactly how it goes) a 3/4 chance that your child will have brown and a 1/4 chance that your child will have blue eyes. We did this in school to see what our future children would probally be like. Its been so long i dont remeber how to explain it to you. but if you were to have more children the next two would most likely be brown eyed, then you would consider the 3 either way - hope that makes a lil sence to you,

Genetics, possibly somewhere down the line somebody in your family had the brown/brown hair and eyes.
