I put the card so the "head" of it is to the left. Good luck.
I use the Druid Animal Deck and the Celtic Tarot

I have read cards for more than 20 years now. I have studied all the books. I have umteen decks of cards. I give readings professionally, and guess what. I have found that, for me at least, the cards have to mean something to YOU. It does not matter what the books say, (again to me). Actually, you get the basics out of the books, which is good, then you add your own interpretation. The interpretation that means the most to you. I lay the cards out and see pictures in them, not the pictures on the cards. Or I get very strong psychic impressions, which are almost always the absolute truth.
Trust yourself and go with it. Do not try to analyze. What ever you hear in your heart is what God is trying to get through to you, and that will always be the truth.
I have a client I have read for, for many years. She has always written down everything I say, and now some things are coming out that I told her in 1999. On the exact day, as well.
I am glad you are studying the sacred Tarot. It is a life-long journey that never gets tiresome. Just always say what you feel and do not 'filter' first. It may mean total confusion to you, but to the one you are reading for, it is a wonderful comfort. The answer.

The second card in the celtic cross is never read as reversed, regardless of which way it is facing.
