and urinating often. I'm one day late from having my period and I am very regular. My concern is today I started having light brown discharge then it became this dark brown discharge. I thought I was starting my period so I put a tampon in. When I took the tampon out it was extremely dark with brown clots. What's wrong with me? Could I still be pregnant and miscarrying or could this just be my period? My period is usually red blood. Please help.

I have NEVER had a period that had dark brown clots. Yes, I've been stressed about getting pregnant since we've been trying for 6 months.

Are the veins in your breasts seemingly extra large and dark blue? That was always my first sign of being pregnant. The showy veins are the big difference for me between pre-period breast soreness and actually being a month or two pregnant.
Just try a first response test - they detect pregnancy the earliest.

"All the signs of early pregnancy" are caused by hormones fluctuating. That's what happens to cause your period too, hormones in high gear. 1 daylate does NOT pregnancy make! All through your life your menstrual cycle will settle into a pattern and then after a while (long or short) change things up. Pardon the pun but, go with the flow. Forget the tampon for a day or so and DEFINITELY talk to your doctor if you are concerned in a couple of days. Don't wait, don't count on strangers online (even though I'm sure most of us just want to help!) YOU need to be comfortable and your doctor or local women's or planned parenthood clinic can help you with questions about women's health issues.
NOTE: If there is a smell to the discharge, pain or itching you do need to see your doctor as soon as you can, it could be a yeast or other infection that needs to be treated now. If you are running a fever or have other symptoms please see the doc right away. You may also want to be tested for STD's since you are sexually active and this change in your period is sudden.
Good Luck!

If an egg was fertilized, implantation (when the embryo implants to the lining of your uterus) happens, on average, about 7 days past ovulation. It can happen as early as five days past ovulation or as late as twelve days past ovulation.
Early signs of Pregnancy:
Nausea/vomiting
Headache
Food cravings
Heightened sense of smell
Missed period
Backache
Crampy
Extreme fatigue
Tender/swollen breasts
Frequent trips to the bathroom
These signs can appear as soon as implantation or anytime after, each woman is different! Some women have all of these, some have a few and some women don't have any signs.
Good Luck!

SOUND LIKE YOU COULD BE STARTING YOUR PERIOD. SOMETIMES YOUR PERIOD COULD CHANGE UP AND START WITH BLOOD IN BROWNISH COLOR FIRST. YOU SHOULD NOT USE A TAMPON AT THE FIRST START OF YOUR PERIOD. IT DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE FLOWING TO USE A TAMPON. YOU REALLY MUST BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE BECAUSE OF TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME.
