external hd for mac doesn't show up on older computer...?

It shows up on my new computer, and didn't need installer. My old e-mac does not display it on desktop, even though i've used the installer cd....? want to be able to use it on both... can it be configured for ANY computer? PC's as well?

On the computer it does work on format it in fat32. Then check the drivers and try copying the drivers over to the older machine, you may need to get new drivers but you should be able to find them on the website. As for backwards compatability with a PC, it should have it but i'm not guarenteeing anything.

Is it the right format. I think fat-32 is universal.
