The rush to answer causes either inaccurate answers, intelligible answers or just plain nonsense. Having said that, I would suggest most of us, me included, have fallen into the trap, and then realized the mistake, but by then, its too late.

Couldn't agree with you more.
There are a significant number of people posting absolute nonsense in response to questions, the worst part of it is when they actually do answer a question instead of just posting garbage they think they're right.
After twenty years experience in the industry and the successful creation of a profitable company employing both promising young and well seasoned technicians, I read the questions here and share my knowledge with those that need it. Yet I've even had someone post a subsequent answer to one of mine slagging me off as talking rubbish when they were talking absolute nonsense themselves.
It's a shame that those of us with knowledge, experience and true social intent are the minority whilst the bullsh++ters think they are all knowledgable.
Thank you for posting this question and to the others - Grow up and realise you don't know everything.
In addition - Ms Cook, feel free to email any technical query you wish and I shall do my best to answer it accurately.

Something I noticed recently at the grocery store was a sign about baked goods BUT the two words at the top in bold was completely misspelled!
People are lazy these days. Their speech is lazy, the internet/chat has made them more lazy. ie: I C U. I dislike when I chat to people who never seemed to learn to spell.
Anyway, just take a deep breath and accept society. You can change your spouse, and your children and maybe even your parents, but friends and society, you will have to grin and bear it.

Some people say it's because, "they're gaming for points." That's something I don't understand because it's not like you win a free car or get a check in the mail. What are people gaming for points for?

The concept is called "The Market Place of Ideas". It is not called "The Market Place of Perfect Answers".

I think alot of them just say anything to get the points, if you don't have the answer then don't answer.
