Well at least the girls my age I am a 22 yr old girl, new to the city. I just want to make friends. I am nice and do my job, not really talkative (just cause no one there talks to me much) but i try to be nice and make friends but people just look at me like they can't stand me. Why do they not like me and what can I do about it? I have tried not to let it bother me but I find that this really hurts my feelings. Please help.

It is hard to work where you feel no one likes you. I had places like that. I did the best I could in my job and the people that would ignore me the most, I would purposefully go up to them and smile and say Good Morning every day. She would not ever answer me. I did it anyway. After a few months, I found out that she wouldn't say hi because she was afraid of losing her job if she talked. I know that is a rare occasion, but I think it applies to everyone.

I think that they are probably jelous of you in some way and are not making it easy for you to be friends with them. I would still just smile and be nice as you are already doing. I would suggest bringing in a dish of some sort, like cupcakes or a snack and just put a card and write in it that you appreciate everyone who has welcomed you the new girl. Thank them for all the support they give and see if they really start to actually do it. People make brownies at my job, and other things and that helps lighten things up around the job. I actually travel around to different places so I encounter different people all the time. There are always going to be those people who have to be negative. Stay away from them and do not let them bring you down.

I actually told this negative woman at the current place that I would like to hear a positive thing from her every day. She is actually starting to try to be less negative.

I wish the best for you. Keep your chin up. I know they will come around. You will be infectious before you know it.

Same situation here. Sorry to hear of your troubles, however, sometimes making friends at work has a way to back stab you at some point in time. I use to work for a company and tried to be friends with all the girls/ladies in the office, however it wasnt long before I was the idle gossip. When I was around they would talk about someone else and when I was gone, they would talk about me. I now work in a new office, got a new beginning and dont really want to be friends with anyone there for the simple reason, if I dont let them know anything about me and my life, then they dont have any reason to talk about me. I feel that as long as I have one good friend outside of work, thats all I need. Good luck. PS.. one more thing... some people are probably just jealous of you. You are young and older ladies dont like the idea of having any competition.

The people at ur job may be JEALOUS of you. Are u in New York? If thats the case, new yorkers are not freindly and they come around when THEY feel like it. So be urself and u will have freinds in no time.
If ur in California, well, that can be different. California s are so in to themselfs and they care ALOT of what u wear. So if u want superficial freinds, dress accordianly. But if u want true freinds,.... be true to urself

In all cases be more talkative, even if its about something little. Dont be afraid to ask them to have lunch with you. DONT BUY THEM lunch, but just say : Wanna go get something to eat?

Clicks are all over, in school, work. Chose one person that talks back to you. If that doesn't work then read a book on your spare time. A joke book or some thing interesting to you. You may have some one else notice the book and want to talk about it.

well, this is a 14 year olds advice. dont know if you'll like it but.... I guess its kinda like going to a new school in a different city huh? just be yourself and be friendly. It worked for me, and I still have the same friends. you may not have friends there, but now you've got one here!

This is a tough one....Well, if they won't talk to you...try listening to them (don't be obviouse...like eaves dropping...but you get it...)...try to find out what they like, don't like etc. If you have things in common with them (don't mold yourself to their likings...)...try casually talking to a few of them you have things in common with. Try making steady aquaintances with a few of them, then get in on group chats, be expressive and interesting. Hopefully, eventually, they see that you're a girl that can be a good friend, too...instead of just an office co-worker. Remember, bring some good convo to the floor...not just trash talk...although...girls sometimes get into that more than genuine convo....GOOD LUCK!!!
