It's part of the structural mechanism of the capitalist economic system that make it function isn't it? Capitalisim has very little patience for issues of human equity, and I have a hard time imagining that that can significantly change.
One, new and positive note is a seemingly mounting social conscience by such individuals as Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Richard Branson, Google, etc. Hopefully, we may be seeing a pace setting trend in the way the corporate world interpretes and responses to its role in addressing its social responsibility.

This is a huge issue and can't be summed up in a little paragraph. However, a lot of it has to do with social culture in America. We are a capitalist culture and with corporations begining to control the nation, a huge gap is opening up between the rich and the poor. This is one of the reasons at least, but they are endless.

CHOICES.... Everyone gets to make them... some just simply keep making the wrong ones and have no clue to how to change it OR they refuse to make the changes that it does take get out of it.
