infinity is not a number like 2 and 3. Infinity is just a mathematical concept. That's why we say a function "tends towards" infinity, a function never "reaches infinity". It wouldn't make sense to consider a number before infinity because infinity itself is not a quality.

By the way, the opposite of infinity is negative infinity, not 0.

We can write the infinity symbol in calculations as if it is a number, but it doesn't behave like a number. For example, the following are tru statements:

infinity + 2 = infinity
infinity/50 = infinity

Like it was said before, infinity is a concept (and acutally a concept with different sizes - See Cantor), and thus cannot be used in manipulations. Infinity - 1 is improper in all forms of mathematics and is mathematical nonsense. I also do not need 1 to get to 2...

There exists a set L={even integers}
