i've called the car dealership and they want me to have the truck towed to the dealership and then they'll program another key. but that seems ridiculous, so there has to be another way to do that. i'm in houston, if that helps any.

It may be ridiculous, but consider the alternative; paying a mechanic to drive to the vehicle and then back to the shop for the programmer and cutting the key, and then back to your truck. Very expensive.
YOU lost the key, and you can't expect Nissan or the dealer to cover the cost of replacement.

Call and ask if you can accomplish the replacement with the VIN. They probably can if all that is needed is a chipped key and having it cut.
If PROGRAMMING is necessary, the vehicle will have to be at the shop!

Sorry for your predicament.

Good Luck

very few (if any) 2001 Nissan Sentras have a transponder chip interior the considerable. The valet key for this motor vehicle is thicker than a classic key yet any ironmongery keep or walmart would desire to be waiting to repeat it. For the Keyless get right of entry to you will desire to be waiting to purchase a alternative on line and software it your self. desire that helps.

The VIN should do it, the programing should be for the remote. They are expensive
