I think you're the coolest parent in the world! Seriously though, I think that is way too much phone for a 16 year old. I believe she is a very good girl, but most of the phone will be unused. Main features a teenager wants is text, instant messenger, music, and phone. Word, Excel, calendar, email, powerpoint and things like that are really not very necessary. Aside from that, most cellular companies require an internet plan anywhere from $20-$50 to utilize email and internet browsing and things like that.

Most good phones now have mp3 players built into them, and are expandable with mini SD cards. They have calendars, IM, and text capabilities as well. Some have foldout keyboards. I think at this point, a phone like that would better suit your daughter. In a couple of years before she heads off to college, she is going to need a new phone, anyway. I would get a PDA phone at that point. A PDA will really come in handy in college. It's easier to carry than a laptop/tablet. Hope this helps.

A Treo 650 is an overkill for a teenager, as are any other smartphones or even PDA. I would recommend looking at a SLVR or other camera phones.

if you do i hope you get it for really cheap and USED!! im a grown woman and i lose my cell phone, sidekick, keys, etc all the time so im sure a 16 year old shouldnt have an expensive phone like that. going to school with it is a whole 'nother topic. my 16 year old cousin has gone through 3 cell phones. one was stolen out of her purse, the other one she lost and the other one broken.

so unless you have disposable money like that to go through cell phones then yea, get it!

That’s more of a business phone, unless u think that she needs all of the stuff that is on it, like mail, messaging, windows, and organizer. I think there are better phones that you could get a 16 year old

Whatever you get, it should be a pre-paid
service so she can learn responsibility.
Otherwise, if you decide to get her the
phone with a regular service, make sure
you get the replacement insurance and
have her pay for the service.
