I was pumping gas and accidentally overflowed the tank and got gasoline on a sweater I was wearing. I have run it thorugh my washong machine twice. It still smells like gasoline and other clothes that have been washed in the machine smell like gasoline as well. How do I fix this?

throw them out they cannot be saved nothing gets gas smell out of clothes. Sorry to tell you that . Just go buy some new ones.

Try soaking it in cold water with a cup of white vinegar . I would not put it in a dryer as long as the gas odor is present . If all else fails , try putting it in a strong pastic bag with a small bowl of vanila flavoring in the bag , overnight . That remedy works to rid a car of cigarette odor when used over-night and it just might work for other odors as well .

I had this problem before. Buy yourself a bottle of Frebreeze. Pour some in with the detergent. I know that Tide or one of those brands sell that together already, but it is not the same for some reason. Try it- it will work

gas evaporates hang the clothes outside for a day or two then wash in good detergent and rewash until smell is gone

when drying the clothes in a dryer... use one of those sheets of fabric softeners.. they make the clothes smell GREAT
