You really don't need to buy anything. Just take out the power pack and stash it and the cord away so that nobody can find it but you. That's what I always did, worked great!

Not sure if you want to secure it in one location or protect your data if its lost or stolen.
Here is a link to a microsoft article on protecting the data:
www.microsoft.com/smallbusiness/resources/technology/security/how_to_protect_your_laptop_from_thieves.mspx
You should also buy a laptop cable to keep it in one location.

I remember seeing a commercial where Dell or Microsoft (I'm not sure)have this new alarm where if you don't enter a secret code first, and open it,an ear peircing shreik will be emitted and the laptop won't turn on till the proper code is entered.

put it in a really big lead box... even if you use a password on your account, that can be broken... if you have access to the keyboard and the cd drive you can use a bootable cd like knoppix and then you can basically do anything you want to it. so there is no good way to protect it unless you put it in a lead box and lock it up.

yeah, the best thing to do is just to secure your account with a password by going to control panel, user accounts, then find your account and add a password
