Need to Get Prop Off First. The Prop Is Frozen to The Gear Shaft.

I have a bad gear inside the lower unit and need to get the lower unit apart to inspect and repair the gear.

I strongly suggest that you get professional help for your outboard motor lower unit. The average person, even with good mechanical skills does not have the experience or ability to attempt this repair. Take it to a marine mechanic.

The Prop is your first step, you can set up a puller with the hooks inside where the exhaust comes out.I have rouigne a few props doing this.. be sure to grease the shaft with a good marine grease before putting it back on. as far as repairing the lower unit, special tools are required.. I wouldnt suggest trying it yourself...Good Luck

depends on the problem , top and bottom seperate , I think remove prop and there are screws facing up to the top and then chap lightly with a plastic mallet and they should split to allow you work away
