Do I need my rear view windshield brake light to function for the driver's license test in california? Will they fail me if it doesn't work?

Interesting question... last time I took the test, those lights didn't even exist ! Then again... my CAR is so old they didn't exist.

I did a scan of the California DMV's page and found no mention of a vehicle inspection as part of the driving test...

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl_info.htm#2500

Then again... it shouldn't take THAT much to replace a brake lamp !

I suppose the DMV could test more drivers and post more information IF they printed only in English !! California prints the written test in THIRTY-ONE languages other than English ! ( http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl_info.htm#languages )
