most likely it's the ignition module getting hot, it's not the fuel pump because it runs, if it was the fuel pump the car would never run, it either pumps or doesn't. the module if i remember right is about a $250 part and about 75 to 100 labor

Important question would be, does it crank over and not start, or does it turn once of twice slowly and stop? If it cranks and cranks, but doesn't start, it's probably something to do with the electrical system, possibly a coil or control module problem. If it labors to turn over, and can only manage a few slow turns, then it's probably the solenoid on the starter getting hot and the coils inside losing continuity. A fuel pump would be more like running out of gas. It wouldn't run for very long at all, and it wouldn't start back up after a while. I would say the most likely candidate would be the control module.

is your security light coming on in your dash-if so you need a new ignition tumbler-my grand am does that and the tumbler starts to think that the key is not the one for it and the security shuts it down-its a pain and the dealership told me $300 to put in a new one

thats what mine did just kept turning over and would not start unless i let it sit a while-i replaced all 3 coil packs($20-30 a piece)i replaced the module($80)and all the plugs and wires but the security setup is whats causing it on mine-it sucks and nobody knows how to bypass it either-im workin on that myself lol
