Do you know any Irish people who might be willing to help you learn the language!

First, learn your basic verbs in the four tenses; that is, learn 'Bi', 'Teigh', 'Feic', 'Clois' and 'Faigh' in the Aimsir Caithreach, Aimsir Laitreach, Aimsir Fhaistineach and Modh Conniallach (sp?). Then you have the basics of the language.

Most people, along their magical 13 year journey of being taught Irish, manage to pick up more nominal vocabulary (nouns) than they think. So, if your not pressed for time after you've crammed in the verbs, I'd next focus on the preposition thingees - I have no idea what the Gaelge term for those is! What I'm talking about are your
- ag 'x' [agam, agat, aige, aici, againn, agaibh, acu]
- ar 'x' [orm, ort, air, uirthi, orainn, oraibh, orthu]
etc.

Finally, to get yourself some marks with an examinor, (and here I'm assuming that your sudden desire to persue the Irish language has come at the dawn of the year of State Examos!) I'd advise you brush up on some nice, catchy phrases and seanfhocail (proverbs). Trust me, when correctly used, THEY are what really seduces your examinor.

Hope I helped!
