I have a pain primarely on right lung. Every now and thenI feel it on my left lung. Sometimes it is very sharp, sometimes it is dull. It hurts mostly when it gets cold, when I breathe in/out, etc. After oh so many blood tests, x-rays, etc., out of nowhere I am told I could have Lupus, then I am told it looks more like Sjogrens syndrome. I am placed on meds that made me feel sicker than I was. And could have horrible effects. I took my self off the meds, started taking herbal meds and beta glucans 1, 3 to help my immune system. No relief on my lungs, tests still continue. Am I alone, or does anyone ever question their doctors? And if you do, do you think Eastern Medicine is a better way to go?

I'm going through the same thing with my son, over a year and still no clue as to what's happening. Western doctors seem more interested in prescribing something for the symptoms, not treating the body as a whole. Eastern medicine is our next step and it's worth considering. I've been to an Eastern doctor and it was well worth the experience. Eastern medicine treats the whole body not just the symptoms. Good Luck.

I am a physician and would need to know the results of your lab work and X-rays before I could render an opinion. However in the meantime, I suggest you look for an internist, a specialist in internal medicine. I also suggest you do not mix herbal medicines with oth prescribed drugs because of side-effects. Now you show find a good physician that will diagnose your condition properly, prescribe treatment, and you need to follow it. Many patients expect miracles but it does take time to heal the body, and if you are on and off medication...you have gained nothing! You say that you reacted to the medications....did you tell your doctor, or did you simply stop taking the drugs? You should have a two way communication with your doctor...so if you didn't tell him, then how can we know how you reacted. It is your life and your health.

I am sorry about what you are going through because I've seen programs where people suffer for years, getting their answers after being diligent and pushing doctors. I hope you find out soon what is wrong so that it can be treated.

Sometimes eastern medicine is better, but I think you should exhaust your search with both approaches.

We must be our own advocates! Never take any advice without using your judgment. Doctors are in the business to make money, so remember that when they suggest anything that seems illogical to you.

It is absolutely good to question your doctors and if your aren't getting answers then get second and third opinions. What other tests did they do to determine you have lupus and what other symptoms were you having. Herbal medicine helps but I think it shouldn't be used alone. Try both conventional and herbal medicine. Sometimes you get better relief.

I have dealt with doctors for 30 years because of an illness I take medicine for. My advice: be persistent and keep searching for an answer, do not be intimidated by any doctor, research what you can about your condition yourself to be informed and be open to try anything. I know that treatment involves my part and the doctors part and communication is crucial between you and doctors; work with them but don't just let them tell you what to do. It is your life and your body, they are just there to be a catalyst to activate healing.

I dont know what you should do. Im going thru the same thing. Ive been sick for 5 yrs and a doc finally gave me a diagnosis, but who knows if hes right. I am a bit better, but am wondering if he was even right about what Ive got. I have to stick with him cuz all the other docs dont have a clue whats wrong with me. Im about ready to give up and let it kill me. Im tired of trying.

I wish you lots of luck tho, and I feel your pain.

I totally believe in Eastern Medicine and herbs, but I think your question is better asked as who is better at diagnosing.

Western Medicine is not bad at diagnosis but you may want a third opinion.

I'm sorry I can't help any more than that.

my answer to your question is to be informed... the fact of the matter is that doctors are indeed human, and they make mistakes...don't take a doctor's diagnosis as the absolute truth because everyday there are people being misdiagnosed...
Most importantly... do your own research...and see what you come up with... if a doctor is telling you lupus... checked it out on the internet to see if what they are telling you corralates with your symptoms....

good luck in your search and health

you should always question your doctors. they are just people. now about your problem, it may take several tests to give a final diagnosis. always ask your doc questions about your illness, medications, and tests; if you dont understand the answer, keep asking until you do understand what the heck they are saying.

Get second and third opinions. Get a CT Scan for diagnosis.

Remember it's Medical PRACTICE
