Whilst "contraction" does have 11 letters, it does not have the right meaning.

If there were 13 letters, it would be "counteraction".

If there were 8 letters, it would be "reaction".

If you counted a hyphen as a space-filler (as opposed to a letter) it could be "anti-action", and that does have 11 characters. However, I've never heard that word used before, so I'll be off down the pub now ....
