Self-rule. They weren't being represented in the British Parliament (Taxation without Representation).
Expand markets for their products. They were only allowed to trade with British merchants for their goods and raw materials. The British set the prices.
The right to be critical of the British government. Colonists were not allowed to be critical of the Colonial governments installed by the British.
Comment to Loyalists? I would say that when the likelihood of an American victory was forthcoming, he should change his views to protect his life, family, and property.
