If that had been you in his place would you have come back?
It's a shame that he couldn't come back to the field and take a lap of honour and salute his fans.
Most of the Italian fans in the stadium would not have begrudged him that since Italy had just won the cup.

I doubt he felt ashamed. He did what he felt he had to do. Things happen when people make split second decisions.
And I think you are just stirring because I am sure you know that due to his red card, he by the laws of the game, is not allowed to partake in any further part of the days proceedings. You could not possibly be unaware of that.

OK, now that everybody has given their stupid answer.
Now it's time for the facts
He was red carded, so once you're kicked out of the match, that's it.
Even though he was supposed to come back on to the pitch for his medal, rules are rules. You don't come for anything.

he was crying after all it must have been very harsh on him to get a red card on the final match and especially when it was meant to be his last match. What a "sad",cruel" and "tragic" way to end someone's career.
