I don't know, I often wonder the same thing. It is superstition, but I think it's going a bit too far. Perhaps it has something to do with friday the 13th, which I think came from the freddie crugar movies. I wonder how far 13, or friday the 13th goes back in history, or did all this superstition arise from a cheesy horror movie from the 80's

The number "13" is considered unlucky by many - thus, many buildings (especially hotels) do not number any floor as they 13th. They simply skip the number and go from 12 to 14. This is particularly true of older hotels.

There are 13th floors in all the tall buildings I have been in. Of course, I have an elevator key. Does that make a difference?

if there are 13 floors then there is a 13th floor. why does it matter what you call it. It is still the 13th floor???

why not start saying all black cats are really white cats... would you feel more lucky if a "white cat" crossed your path, although you know it is black?
