A.. look at the australian middle class. We pay 50% tax on every dollar we earn(income tax), plus a standard 10% on all goods, plus many standard goods (like oil) have a further of 30-50% - meaning most of the time we have only ~10% true spending power. Our middle class is earning 1/10 of what your middle class does. To top this off, nothing comes back to the middle class. The rich don't pay taxes, as they threaten to leave, and the poor recieve benefits from the gov - hence it is the middle class which pays all our taxes. All the new roads are built in poor or rich areas. Huge money and land grants are given to the aborigines, and other minorities, who although they are meant to use it to increase ties with us, spend it on themselves. Laws are passed to restrict us, so you have to spend money to do things - e.g. our state parks were open to all, so the gov put national parks (the federal based regulator) in charge so dogs can't go into any parks now. Instead you have to pay money to take dogs to particular places.
Bah the list goes on.
Suffice to say, the line of difference between working 24/7 and being unemployed in Australia is very fine compared to U.S. and most other countries.

If you mean that the American middle class tends to be right-leaning, then yes...
If the liberal elite keeps trying to raise taxes on the middle class, then yes, the middle class is screwed...
And tzeen is telling you the same thing, btw...

Happens everytime the Republipukes are in power - they're all for big business and the rich and don't give a crap about the middle class. If - and God help us if this happens - the Republipukes retain control of Congress and the White House in '08, there won't be any middle class left.

Our country is turning more and more into a third world type country with the rich and powerful and everyone else poor. This cannot be good for America!

define middle class as far as what you consider their income minimum and maximum, as well as how much debt they carry.
