What is your moral code? Are there any principles you would risk or even sacrifice your life for?

I think this question depends on the level of indoctrination we allow ourselves to be subjected to. A highly indoctrinated person, (i.e. religious fanatic) is ready to die at the drop of a dime, or call of a "holy" man. However, a person who actively refuses to be indoctrinated thinks more about the consequences of their actions. If your goal is to live a long time then it is less likely you would be willing to sacrifice yourself for a cause or principle, no matter how noble or worthy it may be. If others want to die for their principles, that is fine, but that would not be the first order on my plate.
