Certainly he would. Linus has conviction. The only reason he wasn't there till sun rise is because Lucy, showing her only compassion ever in the history of the strip, went out and fetched his shivering fanny in before he caught cold.

Of course he would have! And it would've paid off too! Just a little while longer and the Great Pumpkin wouldn't have missed him! Can you imagine how sad the Great Pumpkin was when he finally showed up, and Linus wasn't there??

Probably, but he woulda been kinda "so-so" about it and his door-to-door proselytizing might have sounded like this instead:

"One must never say, 'If the slightly above average Pumpkin comes", but rather, 'When the slightly above average Pumpkin comes!' Because a lack of sufficient faith might cause the slightly above average Pumpkin or (SAPP, as he is now called) to pass one by at the critical time."
