I do not approve of killing people for the sake of research. Stem cells can be collected from umbilical cords. The best comparison is that of what Nazi's did for research. They tortured and killed people to learn medical and scientific facts about people. I will never condone such behavior on those before or after birth.
I stand on floors. I stand on feet, my own. I stand on the ground. I usually do this with shoes on. I don't stand on stem cells. I do this normally. It has nothing to do with feeling. It is how people have gotten from place to place for many many years.

They are cells; the basic building blocks of the human body. Outside the gestational environment, they are not a practical source of a new person. As stem cells, they can be harvested for research from spontaneous abortions, therapeutic abortions and other cell sources, such as the placenta of a newborn Homo Sapian. The "the stem cell could be a new life", and therefore should not be used for research is hollow and fraught with superstition and religious dogma which do not take into account the feasibility of sources of these cells (see above for some examples). The superstitions and other conclusions based on belief systems rather than cold, hard (and yes, compassionate) reasoning cannot supersede the human mind and talent for trying to improve our lot as "man".
So, I think, without deliberately impregnating and then aborting young women (as implied in the story "The Handmaiden"), medical research science which almost always works within a strict ethical code, should not be prevented from ascertaining those cells from the sources which do not violate those strict, but reasonable ethical boundries, while simultaneously ignoring the unreasoned, hysterical superstitions based on "belief systems", whether Judeo-Christan, Confusist, Islamic, or any other spiritually unreasoned point of view.

there are so many horrid diseases such as MS and diabetes that could be greatly helped with stem cell research but the government does not want to find cures as the pharmacutical companies donate too much money.

I absolutely agree with using them! And those stupid Bush loving people are stupid to not agree with it! It's not killing or destroying a life, it is umbillical cord blood from a newborn! What if their kids got leukemia or sickle cell anemia?? They'd let them die or get chemo which would kill them probably, when stem cells could cure them!!!!

What about stem cells? Be more specific in your question.

For it. (As are the vast majority of Americans.)

Instead of throwing embryos away, we can use them to massively improve the quality of life of many thousands of people.

But, we live in a theocracy these days, rule by a few fanatics, against the will of the citizens.
