Just North of the Hungarian border and all through the country are an enormous numbers of castles and fine villas open to the public. An example, is crossing across to the Lucenec area you can find six castles. One of which is perched on a mountain peak and contains numerous period pieces of art and decoration. There is also a fine villa in a park with it;s own wildlife park, and wonderful interior, furnishings and trophy room including a stuffed wolf, elephant head and large crocodile.

lastly, this area has an enormous network of underground caves with tours of miles and miles of cave trails. One tour takes in an eight hour hike completely undergound in the cave system. caving, but doable by anyone, not crawling in little holes.

Beautiful as well, the summer is great. Inexpensive, friendly, easy. Good place to go.

Slovakia is a very nice country. I myself have visited two times, just to hike in the High Tatras. I have never actually been to Bratislava, the capitol, but if you want a cool place to go skiing, Slovakia is a good place to do so. You can also climb to the tops of the hundreds of moutain peaks, and in the valleys, there are a couple of neat water parks.

Isn't that where "Hostel" took place?

Seriously, you could visit Bratislava (the capital) and then head eastwards to do some skiing in the Tatras along the Polish border. One con about travelling there is that Slovakia isn't as developed as most countries in Western Europe but on the plus side you'll be able to do more for less money.

Slovakia is one of the most beautiful countries in europe,Bratislava is beautiful, but the best of slovakia is at the north, the landscape is amazing there..the movie "hostel" is a bad advertisment for slovakia i think, and also the scenes of the movie was in Prague taken not in slovakia.
