I was trimming my lawn and appear to have been bitten by a bat. It was entirely reddish in color (and no it wasn't a spider) or snake). There are two fang marks on my ankle and filled with white blood cells (pus) and considerable swelling and itchiness. Each fang mark is approx. a half inch apart.
Are these the symptoms of a bat bite and, if so, are some of them commonly found in grass?

It would be very unusual for a bat to be sitting around on the grass in daylight. However, since you are CERTAIN it was a reddish bat, I am assuming you saw it FLY away.
If it was a bat, there is a small chance that it could have given you rabies. I worry since you say (imply) it was in the grass, and only a very sick bat would be found there. For that reason, you should go to a medical professional AT ONCE and get immunization. If you could have caught the animal and had it tested you would not need the shots, but now you do.
Please understand that there is no curing rabies once the symptoms develop, so you must act now.

Bats do not come out in the daytime and do not stay on the ground at anytime. truly sounds like a snake bite or possibly two seperate bites from another insect that you're having a reaction to.Either way if the swelling is not going away please go to see a Dr. right away Good Luck

Bats are almost NEVER found on the ground or in the day. Not sure what it could have been, but how on Earth do you KNOW it was not a spider or snake if you don't know what it was?
