McDonalds had to shut down as kids were holding up the staff for big macs with guns, do you know why

It's cheaper that way. But I don't understand why they didn't hold up McDonalds for money, so they could buy food at Burger King. ;-)

Because they are not smart enough to go out and earn a decent honest living , and even as criminals they aren't smart enough to rob something else with more money and less chance of getting caught !
