Yes...and no. Yes it is a color...but no because it is not just one color; it is all colors. White is the end product of our eye seeing ALL colors. This has been proven with the spectrum. Where you can look at a white light, and yet when you hold up the spectrum, you see all of the colors that make up the light. Hope that helps

We use white in certain forms to denote a color ?
What is interesting is that we normally refer to Light as white light, and colorless light...and we know that in the realm of light, adding different colors of the rainbow forms colorless white light...
In the realm of paint, adding colors does not get you the same effect...
White in the color of paper is probably the lack of color where all light is refracted back to the eye...
So you have two different mediums and two different answers....
Then again be careful purple is not a real color but the eye cannot tell if the color is blue or red, and creates purple...
So it is interesting what you see is not what you see...

Yes white is a color. the only known non color is black( blacks will disagree with you and all I know claim white is an absence of color).
Black has been known as an absence of color sence men first view the night skies.

white LIGHT is all the colors of visible light combined, but if you see white things, it means there is an absence of color. An absence of color is where all of the colors of light are bounced back into your eyes so it seems that there is no color. So technically speaking, white is not a color, but an absence of one. hope that helps...

in one way, white is a color, BUT, it is a mix of all colors......you put all the colors you can think of put them on a wheel, then spin the wheel your eyes can not see all the different colors spinning, so your brain puts them all to gather to form a band, or a spinning strip....you will see the spinning stripe as (white)....cool huh.....

Technically it is the absence of light and is therefore not a color but I figure if I can color with it and if its in a crayon box and in cans of paint that it is indeed a color. :o)

Some people would say that white AND black are not colors because they don't have any value. (Red, blue, yellow, green, etc. have values). I myself am undecided.

white is actually the combination of all sine waves for colors and black is the abscence of color so it depends on how you look at it.
