Weight loss doesn't cause stretch marks. The marks are made when the skin stretches during weight gain as in pregnancy then when the weight is taken off the marks are more visible. With excessive weight loss the skin is just loose but has no marks unless you were fat to begin with and then lost the weight. Most women have marks on their breasts and stomach after they give birth. That is where the skin has stretched the most.

Depends on how much weight you lost, how you did it? Example You can get stretch marks from lifting weights! I would really like to have more info on how much weight you lost, because you may have never noticed them before.Did you try to lose this weight or did it just come off for some other reason? Some peoples skin no matter what they do will get stretch marks, I know it sucks! I have had two boys! You can also get stretch marks at a young age from a growth spurt. I hope this helps, but I wish I had more info!!!!!

The simple answer is this- The skin is stretched out to be spread over your former weight, and not your new weight.
Your skin stretches to cover all of your fat and muscle; adding fat and muscle too fast won't allow for the skin to stretch fast enough, causing stretch marks from forced stretching. Conversely, losing weight too fast won't allow the skin to adapt fast enough, causing your skin to be stretched out too much.
Simply put, if you lose more than 3 pounds a week, your skin will be too big to cover your body without stretching.
If you don't understand what I said, wrap a piece of paper around an apple and cut off the excess. That's your body without gaining or losing weight. Now add another apple, and you see the paper has to stretch further to accomodate the new mass of the 2nd apple. If you take that 2nd apple out, the paper will be creased and won't go back to where it was before without using force to put it there. You can then cut the apple in half and put the paper around it, and you will see that again, you can't cover the apple properly without using force to put it in place.
Bad experiment, but it proves the idea.

When you have a dramatic weight loss, you also loose some of the collagen and elastin fibres that have been plumping out the skin. The skin than looks untoned (saggy). Stretch marks become more visible.

If your skin doesn't have elastisity like it should you end up with stretchmarks from pregnancy and from building muscle think skin being stretched then the stuff underneath shrinking That's why when it's lost too fast one ends up with sagging skin. Blow up a baloon and let the air out does it look the same no it doesn't. One can get stretchmarks on the back of calves from walking or on upperarm area from lifting weights. I think it all varies by skin type I don't think any of the products actually help.

i lost lots of weight after my teenage years and ended u with lots of stretch marks especially on my thighs; so it can actually happen. any drastic changes in weight (gain/loss) can cause them. it has something to do with the skins elasticity or the lack of it

Because it happens to be an excessive change in the skin. Stretch marks can happen during ANY change in the skin.

They only say that to make you feel bad.
Stretch marks are caused by your skin type - some types are not stretchy enough.
