Welcome to Answers! Which processor you should use to replace your Athlon 900mhz chip is dependent on the motherboard you are using. While many processors may fit and be useable in your motherboard, there is not much use in getting the processor if the motherboard can not clock it at the rate the processor calls for.

If you just get an Athlon thats just 100 MHz faster, it definitely won't be worth the money.
I suggest building a whole new Athlon 64 dual core system, or even better, Intel's Core 2 Duo.

Athlon? Better replace it with the same processor which has a higher frequency well it depends on your motherboard if it can accomodate 1Ghz or more...
Athlon and Intel has different sockets and you can't just put that in..
