The U.S. has it's own measuring system? Since when? All my life, we have used the English system; miles, pounds, etc.

Actually the USA doesn't. The USA was supposed to make metric the standard in 1975 via the metric conversion act, and then ratified the act in 1988. & being wacky typical Americans, we all kind of just do what we want including using our system which we brought over from England originally. We still use what is known as the standard units system.

The US customary systems of measurement are based on English systems that were in use during the 1700's, which developed over several centuries since the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

They didn't. The USA got their measuring system from England. England has since then moved over to the metric system.

Since when does the US have its own measuring system? We got it from the British, from whence we came in the beginning.
