we (supposedly) live in a democracy, most people support the return of the death penalty, so why hasn't it been reintroduced ?

First of all, the death penalty still exists. I have no problem with the death penalty, but I think the lines between what is or is not a death crime should be more defined. We don't have enough money to take care of our world, let alone feed and care for a man on death row for killing other people. Fry him, then feed him to the homeless.

I'm starting to think so yes, I know that to murder a person is wrong and I know that it will bring other roblems with it (like a person will more than likely kill their victim instead of only raping because they will suffer the same penalty) but right now our jails are overflowing and too many convicted criminals are free to walk the streets to reoffend.
I am against murder and I believe God will punish those who deserve it, but I don't think we have much of a choice!

I think the punishment should fit the crime. Id rather see those murders and rapists doing some real hard time with no chance of parole, with plenty of time to regret what they did, and a real deterrent to others, as for those who harm children a slow painful death would be fine by me.

As a Christian I would agree with the way he handled the situation when he encountered it. Jesus stated that the law was good and let he without sin cast the first stone. All humans are subject to the death penalty according to God's law yet he sent Jesus to pay the price for us all If God chose grace who are we to require a mans life when even ours is required. The death penalty is God's righteousness but we are all found guilty. Therefore we should allow God to mede out his judgement he is the only one worthy.

It would be easy to say yes but careful thought needs to go into this one. People that have a mental illness that have comitted murder or rape need to be fully assessed and treated not killed. Whereas a premeditated murder comitted by a fully functional person would be liable to be sentenced to death. But then youve got to ask why did they do it? was it for revenge, perhaps a Dad whose little girl was interfered with or killed took revenge on the man that comitted the offence, would you then hang the Dad?? I think not

They should not have the death sentance at all because for example, he murders your daughter, he gets the death penalty, it not going to bring her back. is it

No. But real life sentences should be given for some types of crime, loud 'boom boom' music from cars, wearing burberry caps, too much jewelry, having your kids ears pierced before they are of secondary school age (I do believe in the death sentence for mothers (usually single) having babies ears pierced, this is the single exception for the death penalty), adding spoilers or loud exhaust to crap cars and tattoos on forearms.

Certainly for all murder convictions and violent rapes. Some sort of similar punishment should be introduced for any unjustified 'disrespect' of all law abiding citizens - particularly the elderly.

If that were the case, the first to be executed would be Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld, because they're responsible for literally tens of thousands of innocent people that have been killed in Iraq (and now Lebanon also)!
