he was a great fellow. its not easy single handedly getting rid of bunch of english.
anyway he got support from his country people but it was his firm determination and will that turned to independence.

It depends on what you mean by "good". If you are making normative attachments of honest and peaceful then of course Gandhi was a good man. As mentioned in one of the answers he was able to mobilize people and protest peacefully, most other leaders in the world in history have usually used their ability to mobilize towards questionable ends. For example Lenin.

In his own eyes, probably yes.
Sadly, the realisation of his dreams led to the death of milions of people, the dispalcement of dozens of milions, 3 regional wars and a nuclear stalemate which, if broken, may well cause the death of 1,5 bilion people
So sadly, IMO, he was not a good man.
