I'm trying to lose weight by eating better and exercising. It's working during the week - but weekends kill me. Im just wondering if there is another secret that has worked for anyone....

Not pills or supplements, no, although if you are dieting, you need to get all your vitamins. Lecithin is important to help break up cholesterol, as well as garlic caps. Capsicum if your stomach lining can take it.

But basically what you need is to analyze your diet carefully, and make changes slowly. Give up anything addicting, like chocolate, entirely, but otherwise try to reduce the portions slowly, while maintaining a good balance of nutrients, as per the "pyramid" published all over the place showing a good, balanced diet as containing a good bit of whole grains, somewhat less of fruits and vegetables, less yet of high-grade protein, and as little as possible of sugar, fat, and all those things you know are bad for you.

Analyze your activity level ("exercise" is part of that), and make changes slowly and very deliberately. So, for example, is there a walk to and from work or school you could take instead of driving? Or perhaps too far to walk, but you could take the bus, and get the exercise walking to and from bus stops. Or bike? Get in the habit of using the stairs instead of the elevator. If you're already in an exercise program, give yourself a little push: five more repeats of that push-up or sit-up; a little heavier weight to lift.

It needs to be change you can sustain for the long haul -- actually changing your habits, not merely being a self-sacrificing martyr to dieting for a few weeks, then gain it all back.

Although pills and supplements may work, you may end up regretting having taken them in the future. The best way to lose the weight, keep it off, and stay healthy is to do just what you are doing now: A) Eat healthier by increasing portions of healthy foods and decreasing portions of unhealthy foods. B) Find exercises that you enjoy. Try to not kill yourself with every workout to avoid burnout. C) Listen to your body. It will tell you what you really want. You may feel like you want a double cheeseburger, but is that what you really want? Regardless of what you do, consider that the FDA does not monitor most weight loss drugs/supplements. Future research may determine that most of these drugs/supplements decrease your lifespan.
