I think the only players from you list I would want would be JKidd and maybe AI. Most of the other players you listed refused to play for Team USA, so the question is kind of moot since players like Duncan, Garnett, O'Neal, Wallace didn't want to be part of the team. And Duncan was horrible in the 2004 Olympics. He just can't play the international game and he hurt Team USA when he was on it.

Having Kobe would have helped if for no other reason he would have drawn so much attention and double teams that other players would have had more wide open shots at the basket.

But I don't think it was the lack of any of those players that lost them the gold, it was the horrible defense against Greece and not knowing their opponent because of poor scouting. Better preparation probably would have meant a better result.

Shaq & Kobe wouldn't play together for starters. I would put Marion & Nash in there before Carter & Iverson. I think whoever wins the NBA championship that year should represent the US. They had a whole year to mesh!

Yes, but replace Jason Kid and Iverson with a Guard from the Long Beach Jam. His name is James Wright somehow his talent has not been expose. He was Voted MVP basketball player for California a few years ago and played for Colorado Stated.

If you take that team and have them play together for 8 years yes. Face it. The rest of the world has gotten good at basketball. They also have the advantage of playing on the same national team for several years unlike the U.S. team which is basically a bunch of All Stars thrown together a couple of months b4 they play.

the only thing this team would need more would be a 3 point shooter. the only great 3 point shooters you have are kobe and carter. i would also put t-mac in there somewhere. And Elton Brand instead of Duncan.

Maybe they can... but it's hard when some of those players don't even want to play in the international championships they don't even want to represent their country... and it is also hard to win in the international especially when you are against top team and of course the ball is round you never know..

Too many overpaid egos!
I think we should go back to amateurs playing on our Olympic teams. ( Remember the 1980 USA Hockey Team??)

drop kobe and AI. ball hogs like them do not succeed in international competition. you must play as a team to win at that level, and those 2 guys are incapable of doing that
