Good question, I say the main reason is the need to provide those same menus to other patrons. Remember that they only have a limited number of menus. (Okay that doesn't include fast food places or places that have it printed on photocopy paper *rolls eyes* lol). Secondly, it does tend to take up space, and when the food/drinks arrive, there could be stuff spilt on the menus...clean up mess? and thirdly, you could certainly ask to hold on to the menu for awhile. They are ususally flattered by the fact you'd want to take a longer look at their selections.

I guess so that:
(a) you cannot change your mind once you've ordered
(b) there's more space for the meal on the table
(c) the menu can be used for other customers
My personal view is (c) so that the menu can be used for others. You could just ask to keep the menu; I am sure that the staff wouldn't mind.

not from own journey yet from what i've got heard the plates are vast and, being crammed with food, the parts would desire to be, too. All of which will desire to make a contribution to waste, to not point out the increasing length of the shoppers. Having an old shaped hearty urge for food is only ideal if the skill is going for dissipate. the everyday interpretation of a hearty urge for food would desire to be to eat healthily for the finished component approximately reported heart. There would desire to be no embarrassment or shame in sharing a plate of food or employing a doggy bag. If it is paid for, eat it or take it.

They remove the menu because you don't need it anymore. This is customary at any restaurant. If you want to keep it until the food arrives, just tell them. They probably have plenty of extras.

They usually do this cause they think that you are completely done. Next time just simply tell them you would like to keep the menu to read while you wait. Most places should be happy for you to do so. Bon Apetite'

Because they think you are done with it, and are trying to make more room for you on the table for when your food comes. I like to do that a lot too, it gives me ideas on what I can make at home, or what to order next time.

They do that in the USA to and probably everywhere that is fancy, they figure you read it and decided what to order, and it is no longer of use anymore. If you want to read more, that you should bring your own or make a copy of it or something!
