think about it, your baby is all snuggled up next to mom, your baby knows moms smell and s/he is eating. Can you think of anything that is more comfy? Your wife's milk is always at her body temp so it is not startling cold or anything like that. Part of it is that, newborns do not stay awake very long. Your child feels secure all snuggled up and their belly is full....s/he is all warm and feeling loved.....so..ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Babies get a great deal of comfort while suckling on their mother's breast. There is nothing wrong with babies falling asleep at the breast, it is totally normal and IMO a good alternative to crying it out. Both my babies still fall asleep at the breast.

Infants would sleep all the time if they had no need for food. They need all their energy to grow and develop. In addition to being sublimely comfortable while feeding, suckling takes a lot of effort and energy. Infants actually get tired while feeding and the natural result is to fall asleep. The instinct to suckle may keep them at the breast longer than necessary and it's up to your wife to decide when to lay the baby down.

Breast feeding also has a very calming effect on your wife. Remember that we are just mammals after all and in order for mammals to keep still long enough for infants to feed, there are probably pleasurable/relaxing hormones released during breast-feeding to keep us still long enough for our babies to get fed. So, if your wife tends to keep the baby, even sleeping, at breast longer than seems necessary, remember - IT FEELS GOOD!!

It's very relaxing and comfortable for both your son and your wife. If he's both tired and hungry, it's a guarantee that he'll fall asleep.. when you're full, like at thanksgiving time, you want to just lay down somewhere and get some rest. He feels the same way, but he just doesn't have to go far to lay down.

maximum toddlers nod off even as feeding, no matter if breast or bottle. Burping and replacing breasts could get the toddler to drink extra, yet when no longer do not difficulty about it till he/she is underweight.

baby needs comfort most of the time but mum should try to give baby the dummy/pacifier becoz its not a health habit to encourage. neither is a dummy to be honest but baby is telling you that it needs comfort sucking.
