I don't think it is weird at all. In fact I met my very best friend in the world in a yahoo chat room several years ago. We just started talking and we talked on-line for well over a year before we both felt safe enough to meet in person. Now we get together every chance we can. We have a great friendship that I do not know what I would do without. I think on-line meetings can be great. It can bring you together with people you would otherwise never have a chance of meeting. However as it has been said already, you do have to be very careful. Make sure you know the person well before you meet up in person. And take someone with you for the first few times at least.
And PS. when someone calls you sweetie or cutie it is a term of endearment and you can feel good about it, however it doesn't mean they want a serous relationship. The only way you will know that is to talk to her about it. And if you cannot be open and talk about feelings and things like that then I would not recommend meeting in person.
Good luck to you.

I always say its weird...but I think that it is becoming kind of normal. I know a lot of people who met there gf/spouses (straight and gay) online.
In fact my 56 year old aunt who is divorced went out on a date last week with some guy she met online.
There are several people I talk to online but have not met in person. the world is changing though with all the connectivity we have. You can look at it with two basic perspectives:
1. it opens you up to a lot of crazies
2. you could be more likely to meet "the one"
If you are going to meet her you need to make sure you:
choose a neutral place (i.e. a restaurant, mall, etc...) It is probably a good idea to take someone with you just in case. Overall definitely meet in a public place and don't give out your address.
If your not taking someone with you maybe have a back up plan like go to the bathroom and text a friend to call you in a few so you have an excuse to leave if she turns out to be really old or something weird.
good luck!
p.s. a good way to try and make sure the person is who they say they are is webcam.

I am very leary about online romances now. After having been burned a few times, I won't do it anymore. Too many liars and cheats. A lot of unstable ones online.

I've met a lot of good on line. I consider them friends even if they're 4000 miles away.

I met my husband online. ;) If you're into her, and she's into you - it doesn't matter where you meet. It's how your friendship (and romance) progresses. Good luck!
