I want to start watching some older movies from the 40-70's. Does anyone have some good suggestions, and what type of movie is it i.e. horror, romance etc.

The best one to start with is Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn. It is a classic romance. Another good one is Imitation of Life with Lana Turner. It is about a young light-skinned black girl who pretends to be white. She breaks her mother's heart by refusing to acknowledge her. I can not watch either one of these movies without crying. Check them out, you won't regret it.

A good comedy from the 1940s is Love Laughs At Andy Hardy starring Mickey Rooney. I wrote a review of it on Yahoo! Movies. Same with A Star Iis Born, from the 30s. Check it out (1937) on Yahoo! Movies and see my review too. Petrified Wood was a weird one from the 30s. Oh, and the musical Funny Girl (which I also wrote a review of) from the 60s is absolutely wicked! And How To Marry A Millionaire with Marilyn Monroe is funny too. And They Came From beyond Space from the 40s (I think). That's about martians. And also the original Little Shop of Horrors. Look all of these up on Yahoo! Movies

Anything with Humphrey Bogart, you can't go wrong!! Casablanca is a timeless classic! You won't be disappointed!!! Also, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn; 1940's, i think...really good movie. It is a drama. I cry every time i see it! And, you can't go wrong with Marlon Brando movies either!! "On the Waterfront"; you'll cheer and cry every time! Brando is also in a movie called "The Young Lions"; it is a must see!! I could go on....Please don't listen to those people who say old movies suck; they have no appreciation for real movie talent!!!

hmm older movie are pretty boring. Don't go out and spend too much. Humor has changed since the 40s. U might be real dissappointed. 'Refer Madness' is an old movie. it issupposedto be a propaganda spoof, supposedto be funny.it was terrible
