what are some railroad disadvantages in the 19th-20th century?

1) it was dangerous- wrecks, coal flying out, hot equipment burning people

2)hard work building them

In the 20th century, railroads weren't used as much because they were/are a slow form of technology compared to driving a car.

Before that, though, slaves and others were forced to build railroads and it killed many people because of the dangers and hard work. Building railroads, in general, was a very dangerous task.

One of the major disadvantages of the railroads was the expense of obtaining the land to build them on and the displacement of the people who lived on that land.

They take a long time to build and railroads cannot be built in certain terrian... such as mountains,etc..
