can anyone help me i have a rat that every now and then sneezes is this normal?

If your rat sneezes once or twice a day then it is probably fine. Once or twice an hour, not so good. Cedar and pine bedding are very bad for them, the oils are toxic and can cause lung scarring, perfumes and candles can also cause sneezing, dusty bedding can also be a problem.

Rats have very sensitive upper respiratory systems, and pine bedding contains phenols which can irritate them, making them sneeze, wheeze, and secrete porphyrin (the red stuff you are probably seeing around his eyes and nose). I would suggest making sure his cage is cleaned often and changing from pine bedding to Carefresh or aspen wood shavings.
If the irritation has caused him to develop a mycoplasma infection, which is very likely, he may need to go on a short course of antibiotics to clear it up. If changing the bedding and keeping his cage clean doesn't seem to help him after a week or two, please take him to a veterinarian to be seen. Good luck!

if your rat is on wood shaving then swap! they have a allergic reaction with wood dust switch to cardboard chippings. also its not blood its a chemical they use to clean there eyes it looks like blood, that normally means there ill because there not cleaning themselves. but they do normally sneeze. just swap his bedding and it should stop.

It could be the bedding your using in his/her cage. If its ceder shavings than switch it. If you see him/her sneezing blood, than take him to the vet. It could be an upper respiratory problem and the vet could give the rat antibiotics for that.

if he just sneezes about 1-3 times daily thats normal, but any more than that and he might have a respiratory infection...

Don't worry its normal.
Probably got hay fever, if its eyes or nose become inflamed then take it to the vets for some antibiotics
