The current favored theory is that it is a sort of "brain hiccup". Basically, the parts of your brain that process memory and time sense misfire. Causing the sensation that you have done/seen/heard this stimulus before.
This theory is by no means universally accepted. But neurosurgeons have recently had limited success in triggering deja-vu by directly stimulating a subjects brain. No results that could be called proof, but it does lend the idea some authority.

I don't think it's a trick of the mind or a delusion. Sometimes when it has happened to me, I wonder if it had been in a dream,
even years earlier, but I'm certain the exact same thoughts, speech, and actions were the same. Other times I know it was not a dream, but the same things had previously happened, again even years earlier.
Anyway, it means you've been in that same place, conversation, or situation before.

What you didn't like any of the answers you got the other day? Oh, this is your idea of De Ja Vu, no this is not it, because you actually did ask the question a few days ago. This is called a repeat question. However, this could be a case of amnesia.

I think it is a trick of the mind,. Sometimes when i have been visiting a new place it looks very familiar and i almost know what is around the next corner even though its my first visit. Its a weird feeling though i agree.

It is just a trick of the mind where current time seems to be in the past.

I experience it plenty of times and it gets scary! I try telling myself that it didn't really happen but if I cant be convinced, I try seeing if it was really a deja vu of just my mind. Its kinda funny at some times also.

I have no idea of what it is, but YES it DOES happen to me sometimes, last year i was riding a car with friends, another guy and 3 girls, and i had the most amazing deja vu experience ever. i couldn't believe it! i knew EXACTLY what was going to happen (including what i was saying) that split second beforehand, but it went on for like 8 minutes. i was dumbfounded. i told them and they said i had a funny look on my face for a few minutes all right!!! weird.

It is just that eerie feeling that you have been some place before, but you know that you haven't. Or an event seems to be repeating and you know it really hasn't. Call me crazy, but I think we have flash backs from previous lives!!
