Yes, a spider is an animal. It's NOT an insect. It's an arachnid, which is a type of animal that share the following characteristics:
-Eight walking legs
-Two body parts (cephalothorax (fused head and thorax) and abdomen)
-Biting or piercing jaws (chelicerae)
-Simple eyes
-No antennae
Arachnids include spiders, ticks, mites, scorpions, daddy longlegs, horseshoe crabs and other similar critters. These are all animals, as well.

All fish, insects, birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals are animals.
Spiders are invertebrates like all insects but spiders are only classed as insects because it's easier to explan to young children. Spiders and scorpions have a scientific name: They are called Arachnids.

Spiders can be pets but they are part of the arachnid family. My husband and I had over 2000 of them. They are easy to care for as long as you keep the humidity right and keep water in there and feed them.

they're interior the dominion Animalia and are interior the Order Arachnia... I agree @ the 1st answer. in case you have any suggestions you would recognize an insect and spider are very diverse. greater effective than in basic terms the way they seem yet how they stay and breathe and circulate. bugs at the instant are not spiders and spiders at the instant are not bugs.

It's an arachnid. Not an insect like most think. They are family to the scorpion, mite, and the tick. The have an exoskeleton which they shed, just like a snake.

The darker brown one is the exoskeleton. They lay eggs, and alot of times the females die so that thier young have food to eat. That's so dedication! lol...

well it isn't an insect as it doesn't fit into that group. head, thorax and body and six legs. Don't pull two off it still won't be an insect. Insecticide will wipe it out (fly spray etc) But it is an arachnoid so special it has a family of it's own. Howzat for you?
