As Euro 2004 winners, Greece qualified for the 2005 Confederations Cup in Germany. Greece were drawn in to group A with 2002 world champions Brazil, 2004 Asian Nations Cup champions Japan, and 2003 Gold cup champions Mexico. Greece lost 3-0 to Brazil and later 1-0 to Japan. After being already eliminated Greece avoided being the worst team in the history of the Confederations Cup by earning a 0-0 draw with Mexico. Greece ended the their campaign with a draw, two losses, and no goals.
After the 2006 World Cup, the Greek team fell in the World ranking from 20th in May to 32nd in July. This fall put them near the ranking they had before winning Euro 2004.
Following Greece's victory over Moldova, the former bounced back at number 22 of the Fifa World Rankings in September 2006.

Ok. Makes no difference b/c Greece was good in Euro 04 but I just think they got lucky. Coz they didn't qualify for this WC and when it comes down to playing Brasil, Argentina, Mexico and other countries, they don't even come close. The rankings are so messed up.
What do you mean Italy is over 4 times better then US? They are like 100 times better than US. They shouldn't even be 5th.They should at least be 3rd.....after France that is =P

For all you who didn't know Greece was not aloud to qualify for the Fifa world cup 2006, I have said this before and will say it again. They were banned by Fifa because the Greek football federation got involved and something happened. So that is why they couldn't qualify. It's not because they didn't win it's because they weren't even aloud to TRY to qualify. And second Touzours you are jealous of the Greeks just as much as you are of the Italians. Plus I guess your mad that the Greeks beat the French 1-0. Boo - hoo

Mexico had the opportunity to beat Greece in that last game in that first round of the Confederations Cup in 2005. Mexico has a better team than the Greeks.
