how do i factor y=x^2-6x+8=0?

i am stumped i also need to square it to but i dont get how to factor it

(x-2)(x-4)=0
x=2 or x=4

Factoring is FOIL done backwards. The 8 comes from the L step and -6 comes from the O + I step, so find two numbers that multiply to 8 and add up to -6.

You'll get (x - 4)(x - 2)
