Why do some people get so emotional when someone online is disrepectful towards them?

I will tell you, when someone attacks someone else's character, whether it is on line or in real life, it sometimes hurts people's feelings. When they are just being idiots, who cares, but when someone SPECIFICALLY calls you out, in a question, or calls you a name for a simple opinon of yours when you weren't even rude, it's really awful. I think I care because I don't know why people have to be so rude in the first place, and I'm a nice person. That is why.
oh, and what naples_6 said. She is right. My little sister asked when she should try and get pregnant (her husband is in the military) and some little prick answered "before he gets his body blown into two pieces". It was the most vile, disgusting thing anyone could have ever said to my baby 19 year old newlywed and i was PISSED. it was completely uncalled for and you can say "don't care what other people say", which in that instance, is a little hard to ignore when your husband is in Iraq...

Because rather it's on-line or face to face, many people don't like to be put down or made to feel bad.
If someone is on here and asking or making a comment that is just totally inappropriate, then they probably won't get offended if you tell them off, but in case they do, they bring it on themselves when they post cruel, mean,disgusting or rude questions! But I see people post questions, a question that is very innocent, and someone will leave an answer that is really unnecessary! And especially when someone is truly asking for help with something or just needs some advice, and someone leaves something bad, it's uncalled for.
Everyone is different. Some people can handle it when they are criticized or made fun of, and others can't. And I think there are a lot of good people on here that probably try to find the best in others and are a little floored when they see how obnoxious someone can be!

I don't. I am use too it. I have been online for 10 years. I let it roll off my back. I may give someone a smart relpy back but then I forget about it. I look at people online as email addresses. Nothing more

Some people are more sensitive than others I guess. The thing to remember is if you really care what a bunch of strangers on a website think?

because its really not that they are mean but they fell that they have some type of power because you cant see them.


and to the other half the reason it hurts is because there are some pepole in this world that are just nice good people that are easily hurt not in a bad way but just dont like verbal abuse.

many people aren't confidant enough to be able to handle the idea of someone thinking they're ridiculous. most people are positively driven by what people think of them. but, instead of just going into a little corner like you'd expect, they tend to get mean, and incredibly defensive.
maybe it's unnerving not knowing who it is that thinks negatively of them, so they just explode.

Because people don't like to be disrespected period and they find it to be low when people diss them from miles away instead of face to face.

because in real life these same people are sissies and wouldn't stand up for themselves. when they are on here and are anonymous they can finally do what they wish they could do to someone in person. kinda sad, but kinda funny at the same time. :)
