Well Jefferson had no part in the writing he was in France. So that settled, who did? They were mostly business leaders needing a stronger central government. Names?/ Ben Franklin, James Madison and George Washington the most notable also William Johnson, James McKiney, John Rutledge, Charles Pickney, many involved with the writing left and did not sign.. there are more if you need them look signers of US constitution=search the web=

It was a joint effort but Franklin advised the attendees to let Jefferson do the actual draft because he had a certain "felicity of language". Much of the document is a refined version of Tom Paine's thinking. When the draft was submitted Franklin tweaked it a bit.
