Zap a cold sore with vitamin E-400IU. Puncture a capsule and squeeze out the oil and cover the sore with it. Do it three times a day. By the third application, you should no longer have any pain. By the next day -the sixth application the cold sore should be healed or healing. Repeat as needed.
Future prevention would be to eat yogurt with active culture or drink buttermilk. They are known to have healthy bacteria to fight against recurrences.

Buy the dietary supplement Lysine, it's cheap, 100 mg tabs, and when you get a cold sore take two. This works really fast, like the next day.

Tea tree oil is excellent for cold sore, pimples, etc. It dries it out. If you find if too dry then put on some lip moisturizor, but trust me tea tree oil works!

I like campho-phenique (sp?) If you get one you will get more and it is good stuff to have around. Usually knocks mine out in less than 24 hrs. Never kiss a baby if you are getting, have or just had one!!

I don't believe it but my Gramma used to put earwax on it. Gross! I do know you're supposed to get a new toothbrush once it's healed to prevent reinfection.
