I live in the United States of America, where the national languge is "English"

I have to agree with you 100%. I don't mind people coming to live in the United States, but I do mind us having to press "1" for English and "2" for Spanish. You are right; we are Americans and English is our official language.

Well because we live in a multi lingual world.
Why do you find it offensive. In Europe its not unusual to find business and government offer information in many languages not just the European ones but many of the south indian ones.

Being able to speak more than one language is a sign of intelligence not something to get p£$% off about.

Cos not everyone speaks english well enough to understand it over the phone. I'm a brit and it ticks me off as well.

usually for english you stay on the line and for spanish you have to dial a 2...

i thought i was the only one!!!!!!i think that it is terrible that there is any other option...how about the ones where you pick one for english..then they continue forever in spanish!!or the hold music is spanish...crazy!!!!
LOL THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY IT IS NOT THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE TO PRESS THE BUTTON AND ARE TOO LAZY TO DO SO..IT IS THE FACT THAT EVERYONE HERE SHOULD SPEAK ENGLISH THERE SHOULD BE NO OTHER OPTION PERIOD.....THAT IS THE FREAKIN LANGUAGE HERE!!!

Would that mean you would never travel because every other country does not have to learn english? It's for commericial purposes...appeal to a broader population.
